Welcome
to Project American Heroes Part Two at Route 66
This rendering
above represents the final version of how the
car will look.
Route 66 Motorsports and
Super
Chevy Magazine have again teamed up
to build a car that will benefit the men and women
of our armed forces. This will be the second car
completed for this purpose of raising awareness
and funds for the active troops and the Armed
Forces Foundation.

The P.A.H. II car was created
using a “rough” 1969 Camaro that wasworked
over by the crew at Route 66. Helping to push
the car and the project into reality is Ed Zinke
of Super Chevy and the enthusiasms of Bill Jelinek
of Route 66 fame. Working from a set of renderings
created by Eric Brockmeyer, every inch of the
car will be massaged and reworked into something
that Gearheads and car lovers dream about. The
drawings will be used in a contest to select the
final colors and design. Voting will be done by
the soldiers themselves and the completed car
will be raffled off for their benefit. The final
vote for the color of the car was tallied June
15th and only 4 months has been allotted to complete
the transformation from junk to jewel.
Not an inch of the factory sheet
metal will go unaltered as the Route 66 team prepares
the build for the winning paint scheme. Power
for the P.A.H. II Camaro will hail from an LS
motor that has also been heavily modified for
use. The original chassis will not go unnoticed
as race quality components replace the factory
bits for enhanced handling on the street. Billet
rims and wide rubber will also supplant the skinny
factory donuts to make sure they do their part
in keeping the power planted. A bevy of outside
firms have pledged their assistance and provided
parts that will be incorporated into the final
assembly.
Bill Jelinek and Ed Zinke both hold high hopes
for the funds raised and welcome your input. If
you are interested in learning more about the
process, feel free to visit their websites for
ongoing information leading up to the August 8th
debut. Once released, the car will be on tour
at numerous events including the SEMA show in
October, followed by appearances on the Barrett-Jackson
auctions. Donations are welcome and assist our
troops as they continue the conflict overseas.
Later the car recieved more metal.
